Your paper

The text you check is kept for 30 days so that the report link can reopen it and you can check your next draft against it. A daily job then deletes the text, the rubric, and every quote from your text that appeared in the report; what remains is the score range, the word count and how long the check took. You can delete a check at any time with the button under the report. Files you upload (.docx, .pdf) are converted to text in memory and the file itself is never stored. Our database host keeps a short point-in-time restore history; deleted text leaves it when that window passes.

What the text is used for

Only to produce your report. To make the prediction, your text and rubric are sent to a third-party language-model API (currently OpenAI). We ask it not to store the responses; OpenAI does not train on API data and may keep requests for up to 30 days to monitor abuse. We do not use your text to train models, we do not sell it, and we do not show it to anyone.

Your rubric

A rubric you paste or photograph is treated like your paper: kept 30 days with the check, then deleted. If your university does not allow course materials to be uploaded to AI tools, use a library rubric of the same assignment type instead. Your course rubric then stays on your device; your paper is still sent to the model provider to be checked.

What we measure

We record that a check happened, which kind of rubric was used, how long it took, what it cost us, and whether a recheck followed. To keep the free beta running we count checks per IP address per day; that counter holds no text and expires after two days. There are no accounts. Your paper may contain your name (on a title page, for example); leave it out if you prefer. If we ask for the real score you received, answering is optional and the number is used only to measure accuracy.

Deleting your data

Use “Delete this check and my text now” under the report. It deletes every draft of that paper you checked, earlier ones included. If you no longer have the report link, the text is deleted automatically 30 days after the check.

Cookies

We set no advertising cookies. The site works without any cookie at all.
